A Brief
Discussion of the DeSASim System:
|
| DeSASim®
is
an
integrated Continuous Scenario Planning technology used to model, simulate, project and
analyze the performance of existing and proposed businesses. It
provides a financially-oriented, virtual business environment in which
one can
design scenarios for an enterprise of essentially any type, scale or
level within the
• manufacturing,
• service,
• distribution, or
• knowledge generation
industries.
It's an interactive, behavior-focused system
that can track and predict the cost and performance of up to 10
• products,
• services,
• sites, or
• small business units simultaneously, week-by-week for a period of up to 10 years.
DeSASim is
licensed in two forms:
• "Business Explorer",
and
• "Business Explorer
- Shared Source"
Supplemental modules and add-on feature packages
for these products are included or are available to licensees. |

The 7 Elements of
DeSASim: |
 |
The core engine of DeSASim is
pre-engineered. This makes it unique because it already contains most of
the interactive variable relationships that exist within
profit-oriented businesses. Its expert system framework can
be applied to the analysis of both conventional organizations
and to value-chains of interdependent businesses. And, there's
no programming or special computer knowledge or training
required to use DeSASim. |
|
DeSASim users
communicate with the system through intuitive interfaces. Most
interface controls are product-specific and represent elements
of a business, such as processing level, productivity, system
capacity, etc., which a manager could logically control on a
week-to-week basis.
As in the real world, the results of making a control change
are not seen immediately but are delayed until the change
takes effect. Service capacity changes, for example, do not
happen overnight. |
 |
|
 |
DeSASim makes it
possible to better understand the complex realities of
today's business world.
For example, many cause and effect business
relationships are product specific and cannot be generalized
or represented correctly using absolute algorithms. For these,
DeSASim uses a series of more than 90 interactive graphical
relationships with a "default package" offering a feasible
starting point for each relationship to assure that the system
will yield rational results. |
|
| As a starting
point for a scenario, DeSASim uses the assumptions for the
businesses that are contained in a "Living Blueprint". These
unique digital images describing the strategic makeup of a
business are then modified during the scenario to drive
business performance as desired. DeSASim tracks these changes,
making them easily available for review, learning, and
consideration for other scenarios. |
 |
|
 |
All calculated
financial and performance metrics are recorded for each time
period and are available to the user in a variety of printed
and on-screen reports and active presentations. Scenario
output can be archived for transmission to others and the
scenarios themselves can be digitally documented for later
review and for use as a basis for future scenarios. |
|
| DeSASim's report
protocol permits users to "drill-down" and examine how each
variable in the system is calculated. In this way, a business
can get to the root causes of performance - to see the main
"drivers" of each performance variable. A full cash management
system is imbedded into DeSASim reports. |
 |
|
 |
All the variables
used in DeSASim are described in an on-line "Help" function. This comprehensive feature defines the metrics associated with
the variable and includes comments about how the variable is
used in the system. DeSASim also includes an on-line
"Guidebook" that makes it easy to use system controls and to
understand the relationships of the wealth-generating
functions for today's businesses. |
