The DeSASim®
Observation & Control Module (OCM) is a compact, personal
application that
incorporates much of the capability of the full DeSASim Business
Explorer. It's designed to activate and interact with pre-defined Living Blueprints®,
which describe real or hypothetical businesses.
The OCM is a convenient,
cost-effective and highly realistic performance demonstrator. Designed with a game-like interface, it's easy
for an organization to equip personnel with this "portable" virtual business
environment for their own business or other businesses "of interest". The
OCM is ideal for a wide range of
business users - from senior executives to persons just entering or
learning about the business world.
Anyone whose
assignment routinely requires them to have a clear understanding of
how their business operates - particularly under rapidly changing
circumstances - will find the OCM an indispensable companion. When
changes occur, when opportunities present themselves, the OCM is there to demonstrate the likely
effect on financial and operational performance.
Each OCM includes 2
demonstration Living Blueprints.
Although these Living Blueprints are general in nature, they
represent actual classes of business to include:

1) a "Standard
Business" example based upon a distribution and manufacturing
operation consisting of many
different products, and
2) a "Value-Chain"
configuration of a series of businesses that are dependent on each
other for success. This is a unique offering of the DeSASim
system and provides a rare and vitally important insight into the
realities of doing business.

For users who
develop their own Living Blueprints or who have DeSA build
Blueprints for them, user-designed Blueprints will operate
in the OCM environment exactly the same way as do the
demonstration Blueprints. This means that a typical user can have
a series of up-to-date versions of their own business as well as a
collection of "interesting" types of different businesses to game
and explore ... to "go outside the box".
The OCM is an integral part of the
DeSASim Business Explorer; it is not offered separately.
