Process Building Block Module

The DeSASim® Process Building Block (PBB) Module is a unique visualization and analysis tool that is used to capture - for the record - the personnel and materials resources utilized in a business. The PBB is designed so that a business team can creatively and accurately describe the activities, procedures or processes that constitute the "work" of the business.

Using a flexible graphical approach, the PBB encourages participation and collaboration from those individuals most knowledgeable about how their business operates. As their experiences and opinions are shared, everyone involved can easily see the relationships between events and can create a consensus view or document divergent views of these operations.

The PBB is useful for understanding and for creating a dynamic "memory" of how processing resources are utilized. It is also a valuable tool for process event and critical path analysis.

Features of the Process Building Block Module include:

1) a simplified flow schematic showing each major activity or procedure involved in the processing of each product, business or service

2) a detailed tabular presentation of total resource demands by process activity or procedure

3) a diagram showing the calculated “Critical Path” time frame for each product, business or service entity

4) a dynamic knowledge base of business specific, menu accessible procedures, attributes and definitions

Besides being an efficient platform for process description and analysis, the PBB module can also be used to automatically populate the Living Blueprint with pertinent materials and labor information.

Later, as changes might occur within a business, the PBB can be modified and used to update its related Living Blueprint for subsequent analysis.

The PBB an optional component designed to accelerate the development of Living Blueprints.  It is made available only to licensees of DeSASim Business Explorer and Business Explorer - Shared Source systems.
